Pinlight: 2012 Young Women’s Bulletin Board

The Young Women’s theme for 2012 is D & C 115:5.

“Arise and shine forth that thy light may be a standard to the Nations”

This is a mock up of the bulletin board I came up with:

(laid out on my black kitchen island.

It will look better on the gray/tan board in our class room)

Pinterest Bulletin Board

Let me break it down for you.  I called it “Pinlight” in refrence to Pinterest.  (If you don’t know what Pinterest is, check out a Post I wrote HERE)

I made the board creater Jesus Christ.  He has had aproxamatly 2.2 billion followers (according to Wikipedia) and he follows You (everyone).  To follow him I made social icon buttons for prayer, scripture study, and the temple.

Young Women Bulletin Board 2012 Arise and Shine Forth

I made up around 60 “pins”.  Each one has a photo with a label below it.  I used the YW Values, For the Strength of Youth, LDS.org, and this years lesson schedule to determine the topics. Pinterest Bulletin Board

Each week a young woman is assigned the spiritual thought.  She can pick which “Pin” she relates to out of the jar.  Then, she writes her name on the line and picks her photo sticker and sticks it in the box (I am making them from camp photos I took last year and running them off on address label stickers I have and then cut them to size).  Then the young woman would explain how the “pin” shows an example of someone who shined their light or how it can help the young woman shine her light.

PInterest Style Bulletin Board

She would then pin her “pin” to the bulletin board like the layout below.

Pinterest Bulletin Board

I even added a Scroll to Top button on the lower right side.

Pinlight: Pinterest style Bulletin Board

I can’t wait to show the young women of our ward our new evolving

bulletin board!

I have included the entire kit for free below.

JPEG Pinlight Pins

PDF Pinlight Pins

I printed my Pinlight Pins pages on cardstock from my own computer but they could be sent to Kinko’s or Costco depending on your situation.  I also included a few blanks if you would like to make your own.  After they are printed, spend a little time getting to know your paper cutter either at home or in your ward library.  It doesn’t take too long (tip: cut the outside edges off first, then the vertical lines next, then the rest of the edges)

Pinlight Lettering

I printed the Pinlight lettering on regular red paper from our closet.  The PDF is in reverse so that when you cut it out, any mistakes are hidden on the front.

If you have any “Pins” you think I should add to the collection,

send me an email, I’d be happy to update things throughout the year.

I’ll change out the photos as soon as I take my

2011 board down and put this one up!

    • Lacey,
I honestly Googled many of the key words till I found an image I liked. I also went to LDS.org’s media page and used some of their photos and put a tag on them. I love the words you came up with. I’ll see if I can come up with a few more pins using them. Give me some time, I’ll get them up in a few weeks.

  • I especially like the picture of the Salt Lake temple with the overlay saying “If this isn’t your castle then you’re not my handsome prince.” I wondered if I could just print those out on 5×7 or 8×10 photo paper for my YW?

    • Jen,
I did not make up ANY of the pins for the Pinlight board. I found them all by Googling or searching Pinterest key words and adding them to the board. There are some very creative and talented graphic artists out there. Try searching for the original in order to get a great quality image.
      Amanda

  • saw this on pinterest and LOVE this idea! i think it is fabulous!!!! thanks so much for sharing your creativity!

  • I love this! How creative and how NOW! The girls had better have loved this because it’s the MOST creative thing I’ve seen in a long time.

    • Thanks Belinda, it’s been fun to see the girls reactions to new pins put up each week.

  • You are so kind to share! This may work for our girls camp this year. How fun!

  • Just found this and LOVED it! I would like to change it a bit and make it into a gratitude board for families to use at Thanksgiving. We would do this as a Super Saturday project for our ward. I saw that there were blank pin cards at the end of the file. How do you go about adding a picture and title on those? There are many we can already use, but need to have some that are geared to younger Primary children. Thank you!

  • I LOVED this idea but want to adapt it to Super Saturday Thanksgiving project with some additional pictures for primary age children. It would be a gratitude board and add a picture a day during November. How do you add pictures and text to the templates at the bottom of the file?

  • Thanks for creating such high quality visuals! I serve in a Spanish branch in New Mexico, and your ideas and superb visuals are just what I was looking for.

  • I thought you might like to see what we did with your awesome idea! Thanks for the amazing inspiration!
