The Young Women’s theme for 2012 is D & C 115:5.
“Arise and shine forth that thy light may be a standard to the Nations”
This is a mock up of the bulletin board I came up with:
(laid out on my black kitchen island.
It will look better on the gray/tan board in our class room)
Let me break it down for you. I called it “Pinlight” in refrence to Pinterest. (If you don’t know what Pinterest is, check out a Post I wrote HERE)
I made the board creater Jesus Christ. He has had aproxamatly 2.2 billion followers (according to Wikipedia) and he follows You (everyone). To follow him I made social icon buttons for prayer, scripture study, and the temple.
Each week a young woman is assigned the spiritual thought. She can pick which “Pin” she relates to out of the jar. Then, she writes her name on the line and picks her photo sticker and sticks it in the box (I am making them from camp photos I took last year and running them off on address label stickers I have and then cut them to size). Then the young woman would explain how the “pin” shows an example of someone who shined their light or how it can help the young woman shine her light.
She would then pin her “pin” to the bulletin board like the layout below.
I even added a Scroll to Top button on the lower right side.
I can’t wait to show the young women of our ward our new evolving
I have included the entire kit for free below.
PDF Pinlight Pins
I printed my Pinlight Pins pages on cardstock from my own computer but they could be sent to Kinko’s or Costco depending on your situation. I also included a few blanks if you would like to make your own. After they are printed, spend a little time getting to know your paper cutter either at home or in your ward library. It doesn’t take too long (tip: cut the outside edges off first, then the vertical lines next, then the rest of the edges)
I printed the Pinlight lettering on regular red paper from our closet. The PDF is in reverse so that when you cut it out, any mistakes are hidden on the front.
If you have any “Pins” you think I should add to the collection,
send me an email, I’d be happy to update things throughout the year.
I’ll change out the photos as soon as I take my
2011 board down and put this one up!
