I have started my Christmas decorating early this year. You see I took a trip to England, Oxford to be exact. I was visiting my sister who recently moved there when we happened upon a little art gallery gift shop. I found a sheet of ADORABLE Christmas or winter gift wrap (and you know how I LOVE Christmas gift wrap and how to store and display it). I carried it on to two planes tucked inside of a regular roll of wrapping paper. I knew I wanted to do something special with it, not just wrap a present, but I didn’t know what until I looked above my kitchen sink and saw my scrapbook pendant light.
It had been a few years since I had added the pendant and scrapbook paper and it was starting to look ratty and faded. This would be the perfect way to start my Christmas decorating while updating my light fixture to match my current decor. Here is my new paper pendant light DIY.
Here is a close look at this adorable paper! It is full of hand painted does and bucks in wreaths. The title of this design is “Bonnie & Clyde” and is by Laura Park of DeerPrudence.info. She has all kinds of cute paper products available in Europe.
I started by unrolling the paper and flattening it with glasses as weights in the corners.
Then I removed the old paper, cut strips of the new paper and glued them to the inside of the shade with a glue gun. If you have a light fixture with a glass shade, this would work for you as well. Just line the inside or the outside of the glass with the paper of your choice.
I hung it back up over the sink. It is even more adorable than I could have imagined! While I consider this Christmas wrap, especially since it matches my “Oh Deer! Christmas Mantle”, it would look great all winter in my home.
This is just the beginning of my Christmas decorating! I can’t wait to get my full on Christmas decorating on!
Do you love decorating for Christmas as much as I do? What are your favorite ways to bring Christmas into your home? Tell me about it in comments!
