Creative Craft Room Organization
I have finally set up a craft room in my basement! I am so excited to share my design studio space with you. If you know me well, then you know with four boys, a husband and a boy dog, my house has ended up pretty masculine. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE it that way, but with this space just for me, I added some bright fun colors including pink and turquoise and a more feminine touch. Here is my creative craft room organization station:
I have a huge old table with a large leaf. It holds two paper sorters with scrapbook supplies.
I LOVE this giant chalkboard I picked up at ReStore for $15! Just below it is my fab Pffaf sewing machine sitting on a thrift store desk with bamboo detail that I painted white. I added a shelf and wrapped it in one of my all time favorite fabrics, pink paisley.
An alcove by the door holds painting supplies, fabric scraps, tools and crafting aprons.
This shelf used to be in my mud room (until I found lockers) and it now holds random design supplies.
Here is another closeup of those awesome vintage school house chairs in pastels. You might recognize them from a previous post (find out how I bought them for $2 each HERE). The colors are perfection for the space, don’t you think?
I made a pennant banner from leftover scraps of my favorite fabrics and hung it on one wall. Don’t you love the dog and cake picture? Thanks Mom. And thanks to my mother in law for the drafting table. It is adjustable and great for sketching out new designs, plus the color is pretty great in here.
And if you are going to get down to some serious crafting or designing, there has to be good music. I took a nice computer speaker set (with a sweet sub) and plug it into my phone and turn on Pandora. I prefer to rock out to Jason Mraz and John Mayer.

One great thing about this space is the 6′X5′ south facing window. 3/4ths of it is in a window well, but the lighting is spectacular.
I have a feeling I’m going to get a lot done in this space!
Do you have a dedicated work space? What does your’s look like? Tell me about it or link yours up in the comments below!

I especially love the hand stitched picture of the birch tree blowing in the wind and the ’3 dog bakery’ painting.
Barbara, This amazing mom of mine hand stitched the fall tree and birds! And, she loaned me that 3 dog bakery print, they are both perfect there, don’t you think?
I love your craft room! Wall color and all the colors are wonderful, cheery but restful. Such great ideas. Thanks!
Awe Sonja your so sweet! The space is definitely cheery! And I hope restful, that is where my niece Mia will move into in January so I’ll be moving things around a bit to make it a room for her too!
Your room is fantastic, I’m so envious. I miss our house in KY where I had a nice big room to craft, lots of those wire shelves all around the room to keep things out of the way.
You have done such a wonderful job setting everything up. Lots of work but lots of joy with what you wanted in your head. Lucky you with a basement. Probably good thing we don’t have one, might not see hubs for awhile if we did. I’d be down there all the time.
Looks like you worked really hard getting it all set up the way you wanted it and visualized it. Great job. Enjoy it now. Happy days
Oooh so much amazing crafting space! It looks so good! Thanks so much for sharing!
